The pptp vpn (virtual private network) is the easiest to setup and allows you to connect into our network and do all your internet activities from our network. Think of connecting to the vpn like coming into our "internet cafe" and using one of our computers. Anything you do does not reveal your identity because you are doing all your internet activities like web surfing from our computers, not yours. If you have ever used a dial-up internet service it is essentially the same thing except it is high speed (or as fast as your current internet connection). Actually you will notice that the setup procedure is almost the same as it is for setting up a dial-up. The only difference is that you will be entering our server name instead of your isp's phone number. We are essentially becoming your new ISP. Please note that you still have to connect to your current ISP before connecting into our service. The nice thing about the pptp vpn is that there is no software to install and once you are connected all your internet activities are protected. (Although for your convenience we have put together a small connection manager program you can download.) Another important advantage is that a vpn connection is encrypted so your isp cannot spy on you! The disadvantage is that you must disconnect when you want to use your real ip address from your ISP.
Windows Vista/XP/2000 Setup Instructions
There are two options to connect using the PPTP VPN. You can connect manually using windows connection manager (no third party software at all) or utilize our easy connection manager:
Connect Using Our Easy Connection Manager
Download the "EasyHideIP Internet Security Suite" easy connection manager from here: http://www.... (please contact us for download .pbk or download from this URL .pbk file)
Save it to a convenient place on your computer such as your desktop.
Our service works in conjunction with your internet connection. To connect to our vpn service:
1. Be sure that you are connected to the internet
2. Double Click on the EasyHideIP Internet Security Suite (.pbk) that you downloaded.
3. Choose a server from the drop-down menu.
4. Enter username/password - BOTH ARE CASE SENSITIVE
After a few seconds, you will be connected. You can check your connection by going to our home page, http://www.whatismyip.com, http://www.gimmemyip.com or a similar site. There you will see our IP address instead of ours.
Manual Setup
VPN instructions for windows ME/98/98se.
a. You will have to install Microsofts Virtual Private Network support. To do this you will need your Windows installation CD or a directory with the installation files. Press Start-->Settings-->Control Panel. Click on Add/Remove Programs.
Press the Windows Setup tab as shown below. Check the box next to Communications, highlight and Press Details.
b. Check the box next to Virtual Private Networking as shown below and press on OK. Press OK again.
c. Re-start your computer.
Installing Your Connection
a. Press My Computer -->Dial-Up Networking. Choose Make a New Connection. Choose Microsoft VPN Adapter from the Select a device list as shown below and then press next . (PLEASE NOTE: Our service is NOT DIAL-UP ! Windows 98 using these screens for both dial-up and vpn access. Your speeds will be as fast as your internet connection normally is.)
b. Click here to choose a server and then enter it here. For example, enter 1.2.3.4 instead of the number you see below and press next.
c. Double click on your new connection and enter your username and password.
d. Try to connect. If it fails try 3 times. If it continues to fail then download and install this patch from microsoft (DUN 1.4)

Manual Setup - WinXP/2000
1. Start the "create a new connection wizard" built into windows.
a. In windows 2000 click on Start > Settings > Network and dialup settings > Make New Connection
b. In windows XP click on Start > Connect to > Show all Connections. Now there should be an option that says "add a new connection" or "create a new connection" - choose it
2. The screens will vary depending on the version of windows you have but most settings are similar enough to follow along. Click NEXT.
3. Choose the option for 'Connect to a network at my workplace'. The option (depending on your OS, will mention VPN in the title or description. Click NEXT.
4. Choose Virtual Private Network connection. Click NEXT.
5. Choose a name for this server.
6. Choose "Do not dial the initial connection". Click NEXT.
7. Click here to choose a server and then enter the URL here. For example: 1.2.3.4
8. Select Properties | Security tab. Uncheck Require data encryption (disconnect if none)
9. Click "Add a shortcut ....", click 'Next'.
Manual Setup - Windows Vista
1. Choose Start -> Control Panel
2. Choose: 'Network and Sharing Center'
3. In the top left corner of the Network and Sharing Center window, choose 'Set up a connection or Network'.
4. In the Dialog that opens, choose:
* Connect to a workplace, then Next
* Create a new connection, then Next
* Use my internet connection (VPN)
5. You need to choose a server to connect to from the server list page. In the 'Type the internet address to connect to' box, type the url. Using Server 1 as an example:
* Internet Address: 10.0.0.1
* Destination Name: VPN1
* check 'Don't create now', click 'Next'.
6. Enter username and password. NOTE: The Username and Password are case sensitive. You can ignore the 'Domain' box.
7. Click 'Create', and 'Close' to complete the setup.
8. Close Network and Sharing Center.
To connect:
1. Go to 'Start -> Connect to'.
2. Select the VPN connection you made and choose 'connect'.
3. Enter your password, NOTE: The Username and Password are case sensitive.(You can ignore the domain)
To disconnect:
1. Go to 'Start -> Connect to'.
2. Select the connection you are using, and choose 'Disconnect'.
Next start up the vpn connection. On most versions of windows it will open automatically. Enter your "User Name" and "Password" NOTE: The Username and Password are case sensitive. (you can ignore the Domain box) and click Connect. Optionally you can choose to save the user name and password if you like.
The connection should be complete in just a few seconds. If it does not try to connect one more time. If it still fails to connect then repeat the steps above as you likely made a mistake in the above procedure.

Troubleshooting
The PPTP VPN will not connect!
Several factors can influence the connection. Please check through this troubleshooting guide for VPN. It is a general guide, but if you check it thoroughly it fixes 95% of the PPTP VPN problems, including error code 619:
1. Make sure you are connected to the internet when trying to connect to our proxy or VPN servers. You must have an internet connection running to use our service.
2. Check your setup at the PPTP VPN Setup Page
3. Check your username and password. Both are case sensitive. Try typing them both instead of copy/paste to be sure that there are no extra characters or spaces.
4. Try connecting to other servers from VPN servers list.
5. If you are using a software firewall (like Zone Alarm, Norton Personal Firewall, etc.), try disabling them as a test. If you are then able to connect, check to see that PPTP VPN connections are allowed. Our PPTP VPN uses standard VPN port 1723.
6. If you connect to the internet via a router, check the admin page of your router. Port 1723 should not be blocked and PPTP pass-through should be enabled. If you are not sure how to do this email the support department at your router manufacturer's website and tell them you need to be able "login to the VPN server at work". This is very common and they have to have a solution.
7. The VPN requires some windows services to be active. Usually they are by default, but at this point if you are still not connecting, check to see that the following Windows services are enabled:
- Remote Access Connection Manager
- Telephony
To check these, go to Start > Control Panel > Administrative Services > Services.
8. If you have checked through the above, barring any username issue on our server the VPN connection may not be possible.
